Check out the New Poster and Standee for 'The Muppets'
Who woulda thought? As of this writing, 'The Smurfs,' basically a kids movie that attracts adults -- is performing better than expectations and is basically in a tie with 'Cowboys & Aliens' so far this weekend for the top spot at the box office. Little blue beings beating cowboys and aliens? Are 'The Smurfs' bringing much-needed color and fun to the box office? Umm. It's too bad that another kiddie movie that attracts adults, 'The Muppets,' won't be coming out until Nov. 23, in time for Thanksgiving but not soon enough to bring more color and happiness to the summer box office. 'Cause if you take at look at the new 'Muppets' one-sheet, which was released this weekend by the folks at Disney, you'll see nothing but boisterous color and happiness. We've posted the one-sheet after the jump -- as well as a 'Muppets' standee that, like the international poster that came out a while back, shows the Muppets standing around -- with legs and feet! Check it out -- but first the obligatory synopsis: On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. The Muppets' stars Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal, Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Walter.
